Catacombs
We walk through chambers cold and dark
like children of the dead.
Death is near and leaves his mark
upon our weary head.

We live in fear as sounds grow near
the tombs are seeping red,
then see their shapes and shed a tear
as corpses slowly tread.

The terror chills us to our bones,
no words are ever said,
but the ghosts that haunt the catacombs
have eyes so cold and dead.

The Deep
Submerged within this peaceful sea
where quiet death has crept.
The surface shimmered above me
from tears as Angels wept.

Rest and shelter in gentle arms,
her rapture encircling.
Serenity calms me with her charms,
as lonely sirens sing.

There's safety in the dark abyss,
the peace I yearn so much.
She lures me with an impassioned kiss
as I surrender to her touch.

Flamingos
The Flamingos are leaving paradise
as a blind man's walking by.
Everyone's looting in the stores today
while others are getting high.

The rich man with his boats and cars
and a chauffeur driven Rolls.
Some of them leave quickly by way
of the grave digger and his holes.

I watched this man who's cooking
on a dirty sewer grate,
from a burning barrel across the street,
he slid a rat upon his plate.

Fire trucks are racing to the rescue,
shots are fired all around.
Don't have to see the world is falling,
to know what's going down.

The beggars and the homeless people,
they live it every day,
while the fat cats cout their money
before they go out to play.

Everything is feeding darkness coming,
you can't buy your way from here.
No one cares who you are or what you have,
no one's there to shed a tear.

The doughnut eating cops are running;
see them save the righteous man,
while the rest of us are left behind
to protect ourselves if we can.

My dog is sleeping on the davenport,
the phone is ringing off the wall.
I think the Devil's come collecting dues
and I'm the first he'll call.

There's the million dollar question,
who will make it, who will not?
It all depends how tough you are;
not who you are or what you got.

I'm calling up this final courage
as I look to the angry sky.
Then I'll turn to fight one more battle
before we all go off to die.

Dining With Death
Death is sitting at the table,
he is dining on our lives
to cheat him on his quota
is terribly unwise.

Invitations are to die for,
and life is on the menu,
no escaping to the door
for those who top his venue.

The waiters are but Angels free,
there to show the way.
Death is the host and maitre de
on our final day.

In the end it's Death and us
just sitting face to face;
waiting for the final check
and an exit from this place.

Harvest
We reap the harvest
of what we sow,
working lives away.

There comes a time
when we will stop,
Death, will have his pay.

Fading Fast
Hidden in the alley way,
he kills to leave his mark.
The black of night has fallen,
he's surrounded by the dark.

The shining blade's reflecting,
a dance of blood it yearns.
Time is winding down for us,
the "Reaper" takes his turn.

He came by way of shadows
and graveyards of the past.
When he leaves we'll go along
our lives are fading fast.

The Sum
Today my final call has come,
there are no bags to pack.
This is my story and it's sum
I won't be coming back.

Reaper
The Reaper feeds on mortal souls,
we've read the writing on the walls.
We grow new seeds to fill the holes
before he makes his final calls.

Evening Shade
There is a time in evening's shade
when we see his smiling face.
Death sings to us, his serenade
in a cold and peaceful place.

We walk a path that's dark and still
on barren hill and windy plain.
We bear his wrath and wait his will
time's up! Death wins the final game.

Mortality
We ponder our mortality
then pray a little longer
but in the end Death presides
to let us know who's stronger.

The Verdict
Life is so dear,
Death's holding court.
The verdict's clear,
our time is short.

One Last Song
When I close my eyes will I wake at dawn,
will you even notice, the drapes are drawn?
If I close my eyes and Death slips through,
will they say I left still loving you?

As daylight breaks and I don't have long,
will you miss me then like an old love song?
Was this the way it was meant to be,
lovers forever, indefinitely?

If I dream of Heaven's quiet tide,
will you be here standing by my side?
When sorrow fills you and the north winds sting,
will you love me still, will you wear my ring?

Will memories last when sadness calls,
will your heart beat fast as the darkness falls?
When I am gone and finally free,
will you play one last song for me?

Tenants
We are but strangers of our mind,
creatures caught in sorrow;
walking through the night so blind,
tenants of lives we borrow.

Fate steers us on it's lonely path,
slowly 'round the bend;
We are not spared his final wrath,
Death takes us in the end.

Death's Ship
He is the master scavenger;
Death holds me in his grip,
and I, a lonely passenger
aboard his deadly ship.

This Must Be My Exit
From the rocky shores of tough breaks
to the cliffs of highest hopes,
down the lonely road to heartaches
and a lifetime of slippery slopes.

You'll find me amongst the dead and dying
and my exit's a minor event,
all your tears aren't worth the crying,
I'm just tired, of paying, the rent.

Ode To An Urn
It is a very small thing,
below the waters churn.
So patiently I'm waiting,
a prisoner of the urn.

A last request is sacred,
release me to the winds.
I'll gently drift into the sea
to where it all begins.

When my love is close to you,
in your dreams you'll see
my spirit wanders restlessly,
just waiting to be free.

Come my love let's do this please,
to the distant ringing bells;
turn this prison up-side-down
and cast me to the swells.
