How long have you been writing poetry?: Since 1961
What/Who inspires you to write?: Nature, noble men and women, pivotal events
Favorite Quote or Motto: "Democracy is the worst form of government, after all the rest." - Winston Churchill
Writing Awards, Publications, and other Achievements: Shadow Poetry, Second quarter 2004, 1st place winner, Rhyme Time; one of ten poets in "Enjoy the Moment" anthology; Trebuchet, featured poems, July 1 2004 online issue. Summer 2005 Winner of shadow Poetry's 5th Biannual Chapbook Competition
Additional Poet Information: My home and studio is in Holland Michigan. I live only a short distance from Lake Michigan, the most beautiful of the Great Lakes. Whatever the season, whatever the weather, I enjoy walking the pristine beaches. I’m also a fine art photographer and find that photography brings me the same lyrical expression that I enjoy with poetry; the two artistic mediums cross pollinate each other. I like to underscore the abstract and tease the mind. I am ever alert for juxtapositions that express irony, absurdity, and poignancy. I want people to feel both tension and resolution in my compositions.
