How long have you been writing poetry?: In my native language, since I was six years old, (my aunt saved my earliest work on a napkin), in my second language, English, since my diagnosis with advanced colon-cancer in '2005.
What/Who inspires you to write?: I listened to poetry on tapes and CD's during my recovery, and got inspired to write some of my own thoughts down.
Favorite Quote or Motto: 'The truth shall set you free',and 'To thine own self be true'.
Writing Awards, Publications, and other Achievements: Marie published my first chapbook for me, here, on Shadowpoetry.com. "In the garden of illness..."
Additional Poet Information: My english teacher threw me out of her class in 7th grade, (when I arrived in the U.S. in the summer of '82, I didn't have the language skills to ask for the restrooms). Since then I've come 'quite a ways' in my 'home-schooled' attempt to gain control of the English language, however, the occational spelling error seems to be hard to avoid.
